Avalara: Setting up the AvaTax Integration in vinSUITE
Settings and Product Requirements to use the AvaTax integration
Please contact the vinSUITE Sales Team at sales@vinsuite.com to initiate the process of using Avalara Tax.
Settings and Product Requirements
The following changes need to be made before you begin using AvaTax.
vinSUITE Settings:
- REQUIRED System Settings: In System Settings (vinSUITE) or Settings icon (eWS), open the Avalara Tab and add the Ship From Address. The Ship From Address indicates the address from which the wine will be shipped.
- REQUIRED Return Reason: Create a Return Reason "Broken bottle". This reason must be added as a RETURN to ensure volume limits are restored.
- REQUIRED Wine Product Set-up: The Alcohol percentage must be entered for each wine for proper tax and compliance calculation.
- REQUIRED Wine Product Set-up: If wines are assigned a bottle size that does not indicate their volume (i.e. 3 bottle pack) it is necessary to enter the quantity in each pack and the volume of the individual bottles in packs.
- Tax codes for Product Categories: Tax codes can be assigned to entire product categories by going to System Settings (vinSUITE) or Settings icon (eWS), opening the Avalara Tab, locating the Product Categories, choosing a common tax code from the dropdown or entering a custom AvaTax tax code, and saving your update. The tax code will populate each individual product (wine and non-wine).
- Tax codes for Individual Products: Each wine and non-wine product can be assigned an individual tax code by editing the product and selecting the tax code from the dropdown of common codes or entering a custom code.
- Tax codes for Individual Products: If an individual product should NOT be updated when categories are updated, check the box for: ?Exclude from Category Tax Updates?
- Tax-exempt orders: Manage your members? tax exemption status by selecting their Entity Code in the Primary Billing Address section of the member profile. Orders created for this member will exclude tax and the entity code will be sent to Avalara.
Avalara Requirements:
-

-
