eWinery Build Shipping Rate Tables

Instructions to build shipping rate tables in eWinery to define the shipping cost for products.

Build Shipping Rate Tables

Shipping Rate tables in eWinery define the shipping cost for a product based on the product size and where it is shipping to. There is one table for Wine product shipping rates (calculated by bottle size) and a second for non-wine items (calculated by product weight). Every winery will use the wine shipping table, the non-wine table is optional and only needs to be filled in if you plan to ship non-wine items.

NOTE: Before you can create shipping orders in eWinery, you will need to set up the eWinery State Profiles AND eWinery Shipping Rates.

Steps for building your Shipping tables

  1. Define your Shipping Zones.
  2. Assign each State to a Shipping Zone.
  3. Define your Shipping Types.
  4. Enter Shipping Rates for each Shipping Zone.

Define your Shipping Zones

Shipping Zones can be as small as a single state or expanded to include several states in a region. Setup of these zones varies by winery so you will need to decide what makes the most sense for you. Most wineries use a zone map provided by their shipping carrier (UPS or FedEx) to help create their zones.

Below is an example of a simple zone map for a winery based in California.

ZONE 1: West ZONE 2: Mid-West ZONE 3: North East ZONE 4: South East

Keep in mind that the state included in each zone will share a common set of shipping type options and shipping rates. For example, if you only offer GSO in California, Oregon and Nevada you will want those states to be in the same zone. You would offer GSO as a shipping option in that zone but not in any of the other zones where GSO is not available.

Add/Edit Zones:

  1. In your eWinery Admin Panel, go to Store > Wine Shipping/Product Shipping*
*Wine and Products each have their own version of this table. If you plan to ship BOTH wine and non-wine products you will need to set up both.

  2. Choose "Zones" from the dropdown.
  3. The Zones table will display if you currently have zones set up, otherwise this page will be blank with the "Add Zone".

To Edit an existing zone, click the green pencil to the right of the zone in question.
  4. Whether adding or editing a zone, the pop up for this is the same. Enter/Edit the Zone name and Click SAVE.

Assign each State into a Shipping Zone

Using the zone map from above to assign each state in the correct zone. You only have to assign the states that you plan on shipping to.

States to Shipping Zone Assignments:

  1. In your eWinery Admin Panel, go to Store > Wine Shipping/Product Shipping*
*Wine and Products each have their own version of this table. If you plan to ship BOTH wine and non-wine products you will need to set up both.

  2. Choose "States/Zones" from the dropdown.
  3. Find the state you want to assign a zone to and click the green pencil to the right of it.
  4. Assign the Zone to the State using the dropdown provided.
  5. Click SAVE

Define your Shipping Types

Shipping Types define the carrier and the service type for a shipping order. In this table you will need to list all of the carrier/type combinations you plan on offering your customers. Will Call or Pickup types and locations also need to be listed in this table.

Entering/Editing a Shipping Type:

  1. In your eWinery Admin Panel, go to Store > Wine Shipping/Product Shipping*
*Wine and Products each have their own version of this table. If you plan to ship BOTH wine and non-wine products you will need to set up both.

  2. Choose "Shipping Type" from the dropdown.
  3. Enter a new type by clicking "Add a Shipping Type" in the left of your screen.

Edit an existing type by clicking the green pencil to the left of the type in the table.
  4. The popup that appears, enter or edit the information for the Shipping Type.

Type: Name of the shipping type Code: Matches the ShipCompliant carrier code. Time: Time from order to delivery. Checkboxes allow for marking a Type as Lowest Cost, Club Only, Allocation Only or Will Call. *Grayed out areas apply to Will Call types only.

  5. Click SAVE.

Enter Shipping Rates for each Shipping Zone

The Shipping Rate table brings together all of the previous steps. Within the rate table you will list the shipping rates for each zone, carrier and item size combination. As mentioned above there are two tables that hold shipping rates, one for wine products and one for non-wine products. Wine product sizes are expressed by bottle size (750ml, 1.5L, 3.0L, etc.) while non-wine products use weight (pounds).

Add/Edit Shipping Rates

  1. In your eWinery Admin Panel, go to Store > Wine Shipping/Product Shipping*
*Wine and Products each have their own version of this table. If you plan to ship BOTH wine and non-wine products you will need to set up both.

  2. Choose "Shipping Rates" from the dropdown.
  3. The Shipping Rate table will load into the editing pane. This may take a few seconds depending on the size of the table.
  4. Enter or edit shipping rates by clicking the green pencil on the line for the zone/type/size combinations you plan on selling.

You only have to enter rates for the sizes and shipping types you are offering in each zone. For wines, rates are entered per bottle. For non-wine products, rates are entered by weight (expressed in a range of pounds).
