Fixing the "Invalid Token Referenced" Error
Overview
When processing payments in vinSUITE, you may encounter the following error message:
"Invalid token referenced; token does not exist."
This error occurs because Globalpayments (formerly OpenEdge), the payment processor, no longer has the stored credit card information associated with the token. vinSUITE does not store actual card details; instead, Globalpayments provides a secure token as a reference for future transactions. If this token becomes invalid, payments cannot be processed.
Common Causes of This Error
-
Expiration Date Updates ? Updating a card's expiration date can sometimes invalidate the token.
-
Changes to Saved Card Details ? Editing details such as the billing address may make the token obsolete.
-
Token Expiry Due to Inactivity ? Tokens may expire if unused within the timeframe set by Globalpayments.
How to Resolve the Issue
Step 1: Remove the Expired or Invalid Card
-
Go to the Member's Wallet in vinSUITE.
-
Find the stored credit card associated with the invalid token.
-
Delete the card from the wallet.
Step 2: Add the Credit Card Again
-
Click Add New Payment Method in the member's wallet.
-
Enter the credit card details (you can use the same physical card; it will receive a new valid token).
-
Save the new card information.
Step 3: Update the Payment Method on the Order
-
Open the Order Details page.
-
Change the payment method to the newly added card from the wallet.
-
Save the order changes.
Step 4: Process the Order
-
Attempt to process the order again.
-
If the payment succeeds, future orders will process normally.
What If the Issue Persists?
If re-entering the credit card does not resolve the issue, the problem may relate to Globalpayments' internal policies or restrictions.
