Set up 8x8 Softphone for Salesforce

Set up the 8x8 Salesforce integration so a user can click to call from Salesforce for support and sales related calls.

Set up 8x8 Softphone for Salesforce
  • Check to see if 8x8 application is set up on your local system, if not download and install.
  • Download location: https://support.8x8.com/us/Cloud_Phone_Service/Voice/Virtual_Office_Desktop/Download_Virtual_Office_Desktop
  • After downloaded, click to launch the installer. Click through normal install prompts and then flick "Finish".
  • The 8x8 Virtual Office should launch and prompt you for your 8x8 username (your email address) and password (please contact IT to reset your password if not known).
  • Login to Salesforce
  • At the bottom left of the screen is the Phone app,at the very bottom of the browser. Click on it to open, if it has already been set up it should show a phone dialer. If not, it should load a screen to authenticate to 8x8 from Salesforce. The pop up may not load due to browser permissions, look in the browser serach bar for a pop up error. If an error, click on the error warring to allow pop ups. Then reload the entire page and try loading the phone app again. If still unsucessful contact IT.
  • If the phone app is installed and authenticated properly than all phone numbers in Salesforce should be clickable and dial from your computer. The will have a phone icon next to them and be colored blue.
