Site Editor: Edit Source Code

How to edit source code with the Site Editor.

Edit Source Code

The Insert/Edit Source Code icon is available within the Editing toolbar.

You may decide you want to edit the HTML on your web pages. For a good beginner's HTML tutorials, we suggest you visit HTML Beginner Tutorial at https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_basic.asp or https://www.codecademy.com/. There are also many books, classes, and websites available on the subject.

Before making changes: The source code can also be a great tool for you to back up your work before you start making modifications to a page. That way, you always have your original page to fall back on if your modifications don't turn out the way you had hoped. Before you start editing a page, we recommend that you back up the page you want to edit as follows.

To back up a web page:

  1. Click the Source icon in the upper left hand corner of your toolbar.

  2. Copy all of the text.

  3. Paste the text inside a text file (such as Notepad or Textpad).

  4. Save the file to your computer for a back up.

  5. Then, if you would like to put the source text back in your content page, click the Source icon, and paste the content back onto the page. Click the Source icon once more to view the finished content.

To view a hidden web page:

  1. Click the Source icon in the upper left hand corner of your toolbar.
  2. Copy all of the text.

  3. Paste the text inside a new content page and assign the Page Title as TEST

  4. In the page properties of the content page, assign a marketing URL. This can be whatever you decide; we recommend something under 7 characters.

  5. Then go to the URL www.yourwebsitename.com/marketingurl
