SmartClub 8: Backing Up Your SmartClub Database

Instructions to back up your SmartClub database in WineWare

First you open SmartClub, on the top go to Utilities > Database & Paths.

Select Backup from the File Menu.

The following message will be displayed.

Press the "YES" button to continue making the backup. At the end of the backup, you'll get a message telling you the backup was successful.

Compacting/Repairing a Database

Sometimes your database may not behave in the way it's expected to. For example you can search the member table and find a name but when you look in the list, it's not there. This could be an indication of a corrupt database or index. While this doesn't happen frequently it may happen from time to time and could certainly be caused by power outages, unexpected closure of the program etc. This function will attempt to repair the database and indexes.

Select Compact & Repair from the File Menu.

The following message will be displayed.

It is highly recommended to make a backup of the database before you perform this function. Press the "YES" button to make a backup After the backup is complete, (if you choose to do so) the database will be compacted and repaired and a message will be displayed regarding the result. This result may not always be successful. If not, contact the Customer Service department.

You will then be able to find this back up in the following location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Club) the .ldb file will usually be named after the winery name.

It's a good practice to save this file on an external USB thumb drive and store it in a safe location, just incase of a hard drive crash we can restore your data using that backup.
