Troubleshooting Inventory and Product Quantity Issues
What does “Pending in Shopping Carts” mean?
“Pending in Shopping Carts” is inventory allocated to unsold orders. When this quantity matches or exceeds available stock, the system treats the wine as oversold and shows Available Inventory as 0 or a negative number.
Why can inventory appear unavailable even when there are no obvious open orders?
Inventory can remain held in orders that are still in Incomplete or Canceled status. The system’s automated cart clearing process removes inventory from those orders only when they are at least two hours old.
When does the automated cart clearing process run?
The automated cart clearing process runs on this schedule:
- 2:45 AM PST
- 10:45 AM PST
- 5:45 PM PST
- 11:45 PM PST
What should I do if inventory is stuck in carts and orders need to be sold?
A temporary workaround is to add inventory beyond the amount needed so the product becomes available for sale again. For example, adding a large inventory quantity can temporarily bypass the inventory tracking issue while the problem is being investigated.
What if the cart clearing process is not releasing inventory normally?
If the cart clearing process is not relinquishing inventory as expected, the inventory may remain tied up in abandoned or incomplete orders. In that case, the temporary inventory increase can be used to keep orders moving while the issue is being resolved.
